Senator Mullen has been appointed Rapporteur on ‘The Provision of Palliative Care in Europe’, a new report commissioned by the Committee on Social Affairs, Health, and Sustainable Development of the Council of Europe. Senator Mullen is a member of the Irish delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Speaking after the meeting, Senator Mullen said he was pleased with this appointment as the need for high quality palliative care is an issue of concern to millions of people across Europe.
‘We need to ensure that a high standard applies across the board, and in a range of healthcare settings’, he said. Senator Mullen said he looked forward to consulting with palliative care providers and experts in Ireland and elsewhere in the provision of the report.
