We need a high degree of openness, because we are potentially talking about limitations on freedom of expression, one of democracy’s foundation stones.

Whenever ideas and views are suppressed, distrust and alienation follow. It is when the window of discussion is too narrow, rather than too wide, that politics fails and conspiracies abound.
Asking for a debate with the Ministers for Health Asking for a debate with the Ministers for Health and Education about how they are dealing with the challenge of gender dysphoria among young people and their welfare.

I’m worried that our Minister for Children is saying that children in primary school need to be taught about transgender issues, this is worrying a lot of parents.

If this was only about showing compassion and understanding to young people presenting with gender dysphoria, everyone would be on board. But it’s not. It’s about pushing gender diversity at children before it even presents in their lives, leading some into confusion.

We need a discussion. Different points of view on this must be fairly heard.

Treating people who express worry about immigration as automatically racist or violent is wrong. Democracy is built on consultation and not on ignoring well-founded concerns.

Freedom of expression and freedom of conscience sh Freedom of expression and freedom of conscience should be respected.

There are serious issues of human rights at stake with the efforts to legislate for exclusion zones in Ireland and the proposed hate crime legislation.

We have to watch very carefully to what extent the State may encroach on what were previosuly regarded as basic human rights.

Calling for a debate on the work of the NCCA. Th Calling for a debate on the work of the NCCA.

Their recent report on the consultation on the draft social personal and health education curriculum for schools tries to reflect the various opinions expressed by parents, some of whom are concerned about the direction of relationship and sexuality education and who are keen to see respect for the ethos of individual schools, their characteristic spirit and so on.

We need a debate in this country about whether in fact parents are to be respected as the primary educators. We need to hear from the NCCA on this and we also need to hear from the Minister for Education.

Direct message me if you are interested in joining my team and I’ll call you back. The Zambia Appeal Group do fantastic work so if you are in or near Dublin on Wednesday 1st February why not book in and come along anyway. We’ll put more than one team together if we get the numbers. See you there hopefully.

During the week I called on the Minister for Healt During the week I called on the Minister for Health not to recklessly make telemedicine abortion permanent but to immediately instigate a comprehensive investigation into the operation and impact of such abortion appointments in Ireland to date.

The very least we could do in this House is to have a serious discussion about something so potentially far-reaching. You can watch back my contribution on facebook.com/senatormullen
