Mullen welcomes announcement of signing of contract for Gort- Tuam motorway

Posted by: adminrm1 24 Mar 2014

Responding to the news today that the Department of Transport will sign the contract for the construction of the Gort-Tuam motorway this week, Senator Rónán Mullen said:

“I am delighted at this news which will be of huge significance to the many thousands of commuters who travel from Galway to Clare and Limerick regularly.”

“The dreaded traffic jams in villages like Clarenbridge will become a thing of the past.  This is good news for commuters and residents alike.”

“The construction of the motorway, due to be completed by 2017, will also provide a much-needed boost to Shannon airport which will become more accessible to the people and businesses of Galway when the road is completed, he said.”
