Independent Senator and European Election Candidate for the Midlands North West Constituency Ronan Mullen has said he is delighted to have his campaign for election as an MEP endorsed by former member of Westmeath County Council Dan McCarthy.
Speaking after meeting with Mr. McCarthy in Mullingar on Thursday evening, he said:
“Dan is a dedicated public servant and community activist in this area and comes from a farming background like myself. As a long serving member of Westmeath County Council he has worked hard to deliver for the people of this county with passion and integrity as well as representing the needs of farmers in the Midlands. I am proud that he sees fit to support my campaign.”
“We discussed some of the many issues affecting the local families and community here in Westmeath including the financial pressure that has hit many households with the relentless imposition of new taxes . And I know that Dan believes as I do that a strong agricultural community is essential for national economic growth and prosperity.”
“It is a privilege to receive support from Dan McCarthy in my bid for election to the European Parliament on 23rd May, 2014 and I will try to serve the people of Westmeath to the best of my ability as an MEP”, Senator Mullen concluded.
